All the values listed in enSuite under "
Parameters
" can be found on the "
Serv.
" display tab of the
EK280 under the same path.
c) Setting time window for potential data retrievals
i
If data call off from EK280 is required both by conventional GSM-CSD connection and by GPRS-
TSC transmission, it is necessary before the first opening of a time window to parameterize the
internal ComTSC modem in accordance with Section 7.1.5.3!
You may define time windows which allow you to call off data from EK280 via the modem. There are two
available time windows, which operate on EK280 battery power only and for versions of the EK280 with power
supply there are two more which operate only on mains voltage.
i
Make the battery power time windows only as long and frequent as absolutely necessary. Each
time window reduces the EK280's battery life.
The editable time windows are not directly accounted for in calculation of expected battery life of
the "
Bat.R
" EK280 batteries. Therefore the expected battery life is not updated, when the time
windows are changed. Past time windows and data transfers are however used in remaining
battery and service life calculation for the "
BatRC
".
The two battery-power time windows are set in the enSuite device window under:
-
Parameters > Interfaces> Connections > Connection 1
and
-
Parameters > Interfaces> Connections > Connection 2
The two mains voltage time windows are set under:
-
Parameters > Interfaces> Connections > Connection 3
and
-
Parameters > Interfaces> Connections > Connection 4
If you do not need a time window, you can deactivate it by setting the time window start and end to the same
value.
Press the "
Transfer changes to device
" icon at the top of the enSuite window.
i
Once a time window has been opened, it takes approx. 1/2 minute until the modem has logged in
into the GSM network for the build-up of a conventional GSM-CSD modem connection.
If the modem has previously been parameterized in accordance with Section 7.1.5.3 for TSC
operation it may take a further 2-3 minutes, until the TSC-Modem has logged on to the TSC server
via the GPRS network and can be called up through it (provided that all APN and additional TSC.
data have been set correctly).
7.1.5.3 Parameterization of the internal ComTSC modem in the EK280
i
For parameterization of the ComTSC modem you will require a USB modem parameterization
cable (ID-No. 730 20 481) for local connection with the modem parameterization interface on the
EK280-CPU board or a GSM/CSD connection and the parameterization program WinPADS200-
EK from version V2.99, which you can download for free from www.elster-instromet.com.
For the parameterization of the modem TSC function proceed as follows:
Connect your PC/laptop with the parameterization interface X25 on the EK280 CPU board using the USB
parameterization cable pursuant to Retrieving data with enSuite (only for local parameterization on
location of the actual EK280).
Caution, Risk to life!
Always ensure the mains voltage is disconnected before opening the EK280
housing; please ensure it is not turned back on and verify that it is not live.
