Establishing an optical
communication link

In order to configure the electronic index for the
respective application, the optical communication
link must be activated.
1 Position the opto-adapter head on the interface
provided.

2 Press any user key.

Optical communication is enabled for 1 min.
▷ ▷
If the optical communication link is not used dur-
ing this time, the interface will be deactivated.
 Initiate communication.
▷ ▷
The procedure depends on your user software.
Changing the battery
▷ ▷
The battery is available as a spare part. Please
contact the manufacturer, see [Contact – p. 8].
1 Prepare the index for changing the battery.

The battery can only be replaced when the optical
communication link has been established, see
[Establishing an optical communication link – p. 6].
Otherwise data will be lost.
2 Initiate changing the battery.
▷ ▷
The procedure depends on your user software.
▷ ▷
Attention! The battery may only be removed once
a release message has been issued by the index.
▷ ▷
As soon as the release message “NOW READY
TO CHANGE THE BATTERY PACK” appears,
there is a 4-minute time period to remove the
battery. If the battery is not removed from the con-
tacts within this timeframe, the index will restart.

If the battery is not removed from the contacts
within the time provided, repeat the steps as of
point
2 .
 Replace the battery.

As soon as the new battery has been pushed
into the electronic index and onto the contacts,
the index starts and is in operation again after a
short time.

The basic display appears.
▷ ▷
Optical communication is enabled for 1 min. If the
optical communication link is not used during this
time, the interface will be deactivated.
4 Reprogram the battery parameters.

The procedure depends on your user software.
Electronic index without communication module:

After the battery has been replaced, check the
time and update it if necessary. Note the global
UTC format.
5 Re-seal the service seal.
