An Internet connection allows the following functions:

Self-diagnostic functions
The MEDEA system continuously carries out operational and efficiency checks. These are:
•
Power supply checks (mains voltage and battery status).
•
System supply voltage check.
•
Battery charging circuit efficiency check.
•
Consumption check on:
o
each +V supply output
o
each PrIO when configured as an output
o
each device on the BUS.
•
Correct communication between devices check.
•
Correct operation of secondary buses check (CPU MEDEA/64 and MEDEA/160) with automatic
disconnection in the event of sabotage or failure.
•
Correct operation of control unit CPU check.
•
PSTN telephone line check.
•
SIM card and GSM network connection check.
A specific alert is generated when the system detects a critical condition. The beginning and the end of
the abnormal event are recorded in the system history (Sys History). Some faults may also activate
dedicated outputs.
If a power supply anomaly occurs with the output voltage rising above 15 V

(e.g. following a lightning
strike on the mains), the control unit automatically disconnects all power outputs to protect the connected
devices from damage due to the power surge.
