12. Storing the machine
Clean the machine. (see § 9.7.1; pag. 24).
When storing the machine for an extended period, it is recommended to follow the steps below:
• Carry out a major overhaul.
• Check all nuts and bolts and tighten them where necessary. Most bolts require the use of two
spanners, size 10, 13 or 17.
• Empty all fuel from the tank. This can be done simply by letting the motor run until the ma-
chine hits empty or by using a siphon to pump the petrol into a jerrycan (see § 9.2, page 19).
• Detach the spark plug (see § 11.5.2, page 32). Spray some MoS2 penetrating oil into the cylin-
der. Pull the starter cord until the piston is in its uppermost position. Replace the spark plug.
• To avoid rust on the machine, touch up all chipped areas or treat them with anti-rust grease.
Original paints/enamels in the appropriate colours are available from your ELIET dealer.
• Store the machine in a cool, dry place, away from possible rain. If necessary, cover it with a
tarp.
• Always allow the machine to cool down before storage.
• If the machine is stored outdoors, it must be properly covered with canvas. Avoid precipita-
tion coming in direct contact with the machine. ELIET highly recommends a sheltered storage
place.
