7.4 Programming of PLU bar codes
There are two methods of PLU bar code programming :
1. Programming by means of keyboard - the numeric digits of the bar code are entered manually
from the cash register keyboard
2. Reading of the bar codes from the package of the goods with the bar code scanner.
The cash register enables both methods of programming (by entering the bar code either of these methods is
understood).
The programming procedure :
Enter the bar code of the goods and press the
V
button. After pressing the
V
button, the cash
register verifies that the entered bar code is not assigned to any other PLU. If there is a duplicate PLU, the
D
U
P 0004
notification appears in the display. The dUP means duplication of the entered code and
0004 designates the PLU number to which it has already been assigned.
By pressing the
H
(CLEAR) button the register is returned to programming the PLU code of the item origi-
nally desired.
If the entered code had not been assigned yet to any other PLU, the register is continues to program the next
PLU. To exit the programming mode press the
W
button. After pressing it, the register starts to sort the
bar codes. Bar code sorting is notified by
VAIT
in the display. The sorting time depends on the number of
programmed bar codes. After sorting the register returns to the basic programming mode P MODE.
