d)  Put the machine upright again (figure E4) and

apply light pressure until the locking pin unlocks

automatically.

Figure E5 shows the machine with the sanding belt

correctly tensioned.

Before using the machine, make sure that the

sanding belt is correctly seated (see page 4,

figures F1 and F2). The sanding belt must lie cleanly on

the machine parallel to the belt guide bar. If necessary,

the sanding belt must be readjusted!

10.2  Adjusting the sanding belt

If the sanding belt does not lie cleanly on the machine

(see page 4, figure F1), the sanding belt must be

 readjusted – see page 5, figures H1 to H6.
You need the following tools to adjust the sanding belt:

•  5 mm Allen key  (art. no. 53341 – included)

•  3 mm Allen key (art. no. 53342 – included)

•  Wrench for clamping nut M14  (art. no. 65009a

– included)

a)  Switch on the machine and set the speed adjusting

wheel to level 2 (figure H1).

b)  Adjusting the sanding belt on the drive roller:

Open the locking screw (3) (figure H2).

Turn the adjusting screw (4) in the direction of the

arrow until the sanding belt is in the correct position

(figure H3).

Then tighten the locking screw (3) and the screw (A)

(figure H3).

c)  Adjusting the sanding belt on the pulley:

Open the locking screw (2) (figure H4).

Turn the adjusting screw (1) in the direction of the

arrow until the sanding belt is in the correct position

(figure H5).

Then tighten the locking screw (2) again (figure H6).

If necessary, repeat steps b) and c) until the correct

position of the sanding belt is achieved parallel to the

belt guide bar (see page 4, figure F2).

During operation, make sure that the sanding belt

is always in the optimal position.

10.3  Settings for plane and convex grinding

With the help of the adjusting screws (A3-3), the

GLADIUS

®

1802 HT can be adjusted for convex or flat

grinding as required – see page 5, figures K1 and K2.
Flat grinding – figure K1:

With the help of the adjusting screw (A3-3), the guide

rails are aligned horizontally in order to be able to create

a uniform finish with a flat finish.
Convex grinding (for precise grinding work) – figure K2:

The guide bars are pressed down using the adjusting

screws (A3-3) to enable convex grinding, e.g. B. for

welding point machining.

11.  Switching on and off

Always guide the machine with both hands.

Always hold one hand on the handle (A1-4) when

working with the machine.
Switch on first, then guide the accessory towards

the workpiece.

Avoid inadvertent starts: always switch the tool off

when the plug is removed from the mains socket

or if there has been a power cut.

The machine must not be allowed to draw in

additional dust and shavings. When switching the

machine on and off, keep it away from dust deposits.

After switching off the machine, only place it down when

the motor has come to a standstill.

In continuous operation, the machine continues

running if it is forced out of your hands. Therefore,

always hold the machine with both hands using the

handles provided, stand securely and concentrate.

Torque activation (with dead man‘s lever):
Switching on:

See page 3, figure B1.

Slide the trigger switch (A1-10) forwards and then push

it upwards.

Switching off:

Release the trigger switch (A1-10).

Continuous operation:
Switching on:

See page 3, figure B2.

Switch the machine on as described above. Now slide

the trigger switch (A1-10) forwards again and release in

the front position to lock the trigger switch (continuous

operation).

Switching off:

Push the trigger switch (A1-10) upwards

and release.
