Operating instructions for Shearing Clippers
EG 727 “Flex” Item no. 7727-000
During shearing:
The shearing system operates with far less contact pressure than conventional sheep shearing
clippers. Ensure therefore that the shearing tension is not set too high. Slightly readjust the
shearing tension from time to time during shearing. Should shearing start with insufficiently
tensioned clipping tension adjustment head, hair might collect between the clipper blades,
impairing or even preventing further shearing. In this case the shearing blades must be removed,
cleaned, oiled and re-fitted.
3.3
Lubrication
Before and during shearing
A thin film of oil on the upper and lower blades (Figure 4, Pos. 1+4) is essential to ensure good
shearing results and to increase the service life of the clippers and clipper blades. All other
moving parts of the clipper head must also be well-oiled.
Apply a few drops of oil onto the clipper blades and into the lubrication holes provided on the
clipper head (Figure 4, Pos. 2).
Use our special oil only. This oil is non-toxic and does not cause any irritation on skin or mucous
membrane.
Unsatisfactory shearing results are mostly due to inadequate lubrication. Clipper blades heat up if
inadequately lubricated, which reduces their service life.
The clipper blades and clipper head must be well lubricated during shearing (at least every 15
minutes) to avoid dry running.
3.4
Switching On/Off
The sliding switch has two positions (Figure 2 shows Position 0).
Position
I
: Clippers switched on
Position
0
: Clippers switched off
Always use the sliding switch (Figure 2) to switch the clippers on and off.
Check the switch position before plugging in.
3.5
Malfunctions
Overload protection switch
The overload protection switch protects the clippers against excessive mechanical and thermal
stress. If the clippers are overloaded, the overload protection switch is triggered, switching off the
clippers. Immediately switch off the clippers with the sliding switch as well (Figure 2 – Pos. 0).
The overload protection switch is triggered if: the motor is faulty, the shearing tension is too high,
the clipper head or air filter is blocked, etc.
The clippers can be operated again after a few minutes of cooling and remediation of the source of
the overload (in case of too high shearing tension or blocked clipper head).
Refer to the List of malfunctions in Chapter 5 “Repairs” for other malfunctions.
