Operating Instructions for Shearing Clippers
EG 727 “Flex” Item no. 7727-000
Use our special oil only. This oil is non-toxic and does not cause irritation on skin or mucous
membranes.
Unsatisfactory shearing results are mostly due to inadequate lubrication. Clipper blades heat up if
inadequately lubricated, which reduces their service life.
The clipper blades and clipper head must be adequately lubricated during shearing (at least every
15 minutes) to avoid them running dry.
3.4
Switching On/Off
The sliding switch has two positions (Figure 2 shows Position 0).

: Clippers switched on

: Clipper switched off
Always use the sliding switch (Figure 2) to switch the clippers on and off.
Check the switch position before plugging in.
3.5
Malfunctions
Overload protection switch
Overload protection protects the clippers against excessive mechanical and thermal stress. If the
clippers are overloaded, the overload protection switch is triggered, switching off the clippers.
Immediately switch off the clippers with the sliding switch also (Figure 2 – Pos. 0). The overload
safety switch is triggered if: the motor is faulty, the shearing tension is too high, the clipper head
or air filter is blocked, etc.
The clippers can be operated again after a few minutes of cooling and remediation of the source of
the overload (in case of too high shearing tension or blocked clipper head).
Refer to the List of malfunctions in Chapter 5 “Repairs” for other malfunctions.

Servicing
Disconnect the clippers from the mains (pull out the plug) before starting any maintenance work.
Do not touch the clippers in the region of the clipper blades, even if the clippers are switched off,
unless the power cord is unplugged. Always first unplug the clippers from mains before working
on the clipper blades or clipper head.
4.1
Cleaning
Cleaning the clipper head and clipper blades
When you have finished shearing, remove any oil from the clippers using a dry cloth; carefully
clean the clipper head and blades with a dry cleaning brush or brush. Then lubricate the parts to
prevent rust formation. The slightest rust on the clipper blades will impair or even prevent
shearing.
4.2
Fitting the clipper blades
A pair of clipper blades consists of a lower blade (Figure 6, Pos. 2) and an upper blade (Figure 6,
Pos. 1). Ensure that the cutting areas mate properly when fitting the blades. The blades are fitted
as follows:
Loosen the shearing tension adjusting screw (Figure 7) and place the clippers on a hard surface
