Operating Instructions for Shearing Clippers
EG 718 “Equus” Item no. 7718-000
such that the blade fastening screws face upward.
Loosen the blade fastening screws (Figure 8) and remove both used blades.
Ensure that the new clipper blades are clean. Especially ensure that the honed surfaces are free of
dirt. Otherwise, even newly honed clipper blades will not produce satisfactory shearing results.
Insert the new upper blade into the guiding prongs of the swivel lever, then apply a few drops of
oil to the honed surfaces (Figure 9). Then push the new lower blade between the loosened screws
(Figure 10).
It is important here to ensure that the blades mate properly such that the honed surface of the lower
blade protrudes approx. 1.5 – 2.0 mm beyond the tips of the upper blade (Figure 11).
After adjusting the clipper blades, arrest the lower blade in position and tighten the blade
fastening screws.
4.3
Re-honing the clipper blades
Work only with sharp clipper blades; replace blunt or damaged blades with missing teeth.
Re-honing of clipper blades can only be done on specialised machines and by specialists. Contact
your service centre in this event.
4.4
Cleaning the air filter
The air filter elements are located on the side of the clipper motor. The air filter elements are
removed from the clippers for cleaning. Regular cleaning of the elements with a dry cleaning
brush or a brush is imperative. Ensure that no foreign objects enter the clippers whilst the air filter
is being cleaned. The clippers may never be operated without air filters!
4.5
Changing the clipper head (option)
Loosen the two screws on the clipper head to change from “sheep” to “cattle” or vice versa.
Remove the clipper head to fit a new one (grease the toothed gear – Figure 1, Pos. 9 – if necessary).
Re-tighten the two screws.
4.6
Storing the shearing clippers
Store the shearing clippers only in dry conditions in the case provided. Do not switch on the
clippers if you suspect ingress of moisture. This creates a risk of electric shock or short-circuits.
Take the shearing clippers to a service centre.
Make a habit of always storing the shearing clippers between use in their case in a dry and clean
place, lubricated, cleaned and with reduced shearing tension and out of reach of children.
