Functional diagrams of charger/MPPT-solar
charge controller
General information about charging function
All inverters with charger have an integrated mains priority circuit . If the delivered mains
plug (230 V) is connected to the household power supply, the household has priority
due to economic reasons, in this case the inverter only serves as an extension of the
power line . Therefore devices connected to the output of the inverter can be used even
in switched off state .
If the inverter is switched “on” and the connection to the household power supply is
disconnected, the inverter switches to inverter mode within 16 ms . This guarantees a
power supply nearly without interruptions .
ECO-Mode: With the ECO-Mode from CSI150/SSI100-series you have the additional
function of a battery priority circuit . When the ECO-Mode is switched on and AC-
Power is available, the battery does not use the AC power and the batteries will not be
charged . (ECO-Mode = Energy-Saving-Mode)
Inverters with integrated charger have a 3-step IUoU charge characteristic (Bulk,
Absorption, Float) which allows you to charge the batteries in case of a shore current
connection .
Explanation of charging phases (only CSI30-series)
With the CSI30-serie devices the connected batteries are charging permanently with a
IUoU charging characteristic until a float voltage of 13,8 V and remain in that phase . A
overloading of the batteries is excluded .
Explanation of charging phases > CSI50- and SSI-series
The integrated charger as well as the MPPT-solar charge controller of the SSI-series
charge automatically with a 3-step IUoU charge characteristic which is described on the
following page .
Bulk (main charge):
The battery is charged with permanent current and carefully rising
voltage until a predefined maximum voltage and until a stage of charging of 80% is
reached .
