Introductory information
PLEASE NOTE: In order to avert any potential fire hazard, cast iron fireplace inserts, fireplace inserts with water
jacket as well as freestanding stoves must be installed in full conformity with relevant building codes and the
technical instructions provided in these installation and operating instructions. Before commissioning, the
installation must undergo relevant technical acceptance procedure, documented with a protocol together with
chimney inspection protocol and fire protection evaluation.
Installation of cast iron fireplace inserts, fireplace inserts with water jacket as well as freestanding stoves must be
performed following the provisions all related European standards as well as local legal regulations and in particular:

Flue liners operating under wet conditions – Requirements and test methods
Installation of cast iron fireplace inserts must follow, in particular:
•
PN-EN 13229:2002 “Insert appliances including open fires fired by solid fuels. Requirements and test methods.”
Installation of fireplace inserts with water jacket must follow, in particular:
•
PN-B-02413:1991 “Heating and heat engineering – Protection of open system water heating installations -
Requirements.”
Installation of freestanding stoves must follow, in particular:
•
PN-EN 13240:2008 “Room heaters fired by solid fuel. Requirements and test methods.”
Wood-burning stoves with closed fireplace inserts may only be installed in single-family buildings, residential smallholding
and individual recreation buildings as well as in low multi-family buildings.
It is allowed to use solid fuel furnaces and kitchen stoves in buildings of height of up to 3 above-ground storeys if it is not
contrary to provisions of a local spatial development plan, whereas in case of healthcare facilities, social care buildings,
buildings intended for children and adolescents, restaurants and premises intended for food and pharmaceuticals – it is
subject to obtaining an approval of a relevant national sanitary inspector.
Moreover, freestanding stoves and fireplace inserts must be installed in the rooms:
•
of cubic capacity resulting from 4 m
³
/kW indicator of nominal thermal power of a stove, but not less than 30 m
³
,
•
that meet requirements related to ventilation,
•
which provide air flow to the furnace of a stove/fireplace insert in the amount of at least 10 m
³
/h per 1kW of
nominal thermal power of the stove – for closed housing fireplaces.
Use of mechanical exhaust ventilation in rooms with solid fuel fireplaces that take combustion air from the room and
fireplaces with gravitational flue gas discharge is prohibited. This requirements does not apply to rooms equipped with
balanced and overpressure air supply and exhaust ventilation.
2. Intended use of the device
Cast iron inserts, cast iron inserts with water jacket and freestanding stoves are powered by solid fuel. Due to the
construction, the only type of fuel that can be used is hard wood: oak, hornbeam, beech etc. Due to rapid ignition, use of
coniferous wood that contains resin and stains the glass is not recommended. Use dry wood of humidity lower than 20%
(wood stored for two years in a dry and ventilated place). Wood of increased humidity hinders combustion and quickly
stains the glass and the flue pipe. Such wood is less effective and produces more creosote.
PLEASE NOTE! Any freestanding stoves and fireplace inserts may only be installed
as an additional/auxiliary heat source.
3. Device description
Fireplace insert and freestanding stove
Cast iron segments of a fireplace insert and freestanding stoves are combined; sealed using a sealing compound and
screwed. The furnace is equipped with doors. Fireplace inserts and selected freestanding stoves models are equipped
