Care should be taken to prevent pump running
in a dry sump.
2. Unplug any cords connected to wall
outlet that will be used for Smart Pump
controller. Pump must operate on a dedicated
circuit protected by a 15 amp breaker (or fuse).
3. Install Smart Pump controller on wall in a
location that allows the power cord to reach
the wall outlet with some slack.
a. Locate two screws, 5-3/4” apart as shown
in Fig. 2.
b. Check fit of controller on wall, then plug
controller power cord into wall outlet
protected by GFCI. Pump will now operate
as a stand-alone device, without the need
for a Wi-Fi connection.
c. If you intend to utilize the Wi-Fi functional-
ity, temporarily remove controller from wall,
as you will need to access the MAC ad-
dress or bar code on the back of the con-
troller during Wi-Fi setup.
1. Install Sump Pump
Pump must be installed in a basin which is
at least 24” in diameter and 30” deep. Pump
must be placed on a hard level surface.
Never place pump directly on clay, earth or
gravel surfaces.
Pump can be installed with ABS, PVC,
polyethylene or galvanized steel pipe. Proper
adapters are required to connect plastic pipe
to pump.
Always install a union in the discharge line,
just above the sump pit to allow for easy
removal of the pump for cleaning or repair.
When check valve is used, drill a relief hole
3/16” in diameter in the discharge pipe. This
hole should be located below the floor line
between the pump discharge and the
check valve. Unless such a relief hole is
provided, the pump could “air-lock” and will
not pump water even though it will run.

a minimum of turns to minimize fric-
