9. CLEANING
i
To be able to open or close the slide lock easily, the bean container must be approx. one
centimetre away from the grind level indicator.
We do recommend cleaning the grinder on a regular basis in order to keep the grinding mechanism
functioning properly and to receive even results. Furthermore, cleaning will prevent old coffee residues in
the
grinding mechanism from affecting aroma and taste.
9.1 Cleaning the grinding mechanism
We recommend cleaning the grinder with our special ECM grinder cleaner every 4 weeks. This special
cleaner is made of food-safe materials.
1. Empty the bean hopper, for example by grinding the remaining beans or by emptying out the bean
hopper.
2. Empty the grinding mechanism by grinding the remaining beans.
3. Set the grinder to a slightly coarser setting, otherwise the granules will not be ground properly (¼ turn
on the grinder scale).
4. Fill a packet of grinder cleaner into the bean hopper.
5. Grind the cleaning granules and catch them with the bean hopper lid, for example.
6. Fill the ground granules back into the bean hopper. Repeat this process 3 or 4 times.
7. When the granules turn brown, throw them out.
8. Unplug the grinder, take off the bean hopper and clean the burrs with a brush. You may use a vacuum
cleaner as well.
9. Clean the bean hopper and the lid and put it back onto the grinder.
10.
Refill it with coffee beans.
11. Readjust the grind setting.
12. Grind a single portion of beans and throw them out.
13. Your grinder is now operational again
9.2 Cleaning of the housing and the bean hopper
Occasionally clean both the housing and the tray with a damp cloth. You should clean the bean hopper
with a damp cloth prior to refilling the hopper in order to remove coffee oil residues. These residues can lead
to a negative effect on flavour and taste.
