9
long period of operation at high power. If this would happen, you only have to wait a few moments,
lessen the input signal, and the amplifier will restart by itself.
ECLER, following the maximum sound quality criterion, recommend to use the 2
Ω
connection only in installations where the amplifier will operate far from its maximum power.
5. ACCESSORIES
5.1. Active Filters
All the 4th Generation SPM ECLER professional amplifiers (PAM300/600/1000/1400/
2000/2600) can incorporate an optional active filter module, thus simplifying the bi-amplificated
installations. This module is common to both channels and can be configured as low-pass or high-
pass Butterworth filters with an slope of 18dB/octave.
The FA2LP low-pass filter can be configured for 4 different cut-off frequencies: 100, 125,
150 and 200Hz. The selection is made by means of 'jumpers'.
The FA2HP hi gh-pass filter has the same cut-off frequencies and the selection is also
made by 'jumpers'.
Refer to the enclosed module manual when installing the filter.
5.2. Limiter
A limiter module can also be installed in the amplifier but, in this case, one limiter per
channel is necessary. This circuit always measures the harmonic distortion due to clipping at the
amplifier output and automatically reduces the input signal level to keep the distortion under the
selected value. The selectable harmonic distortion values are 1, 4 and 10% and are selected by
means of jumpers.
It is important to note the utility of this module in 'conflictive' installations or where an extra
protection for the loudspeakers is desired.
The advantage of this system in front classical compressors is that the sound dynamics is
not affected unless the distortion threshold is reached.
Refer to the enclosed module manual when installing the limiter.
6. CLEANING
The front panel should not be cleaned with dissolvent or abrasive substan ces because silk-
printing could be damaged. To clean it, use a soft cloth slightly wet with water and neutral liquid
soap; dry it with a clean cloth. Be careful that water never gets into the amplifier through the holes
of the front panel.
