6.12.1 Performing firmware update
Using a USB stick
locally on-site
Requirements for applying a firmware update:
The new firmware must be available; this is usually provided as a compressed ZIP archive, e.g. at
edp.eckelmann.de/edp/lds/_a8DwY2ZwdN
.
The ZIP- archive (it contains the directory "
CI4000
") must be unpacked using a PC into the root directory of
a USB stick (1 GB .. <=16 GB with 1 GB free space).
The USB stick for the firmware update and the configuration data
must be formatted with FAT32
as file
system!
The requirements are met if the unpacking and copying to the USB stick has taken has taken place as
follows:
The directory, e.g.
F:\CI4000
exists on the USB stick (if "F" is the drive letter for the plugged-in USB stick).
Execution of the firmware update
locally on-site:
For details, see chapter
Damage to the system and stock loss! Before
the firmware update, the affected system component
or the system must be brought into a safe state as the shutdown of the controller during the firmware
update can have undesired effects on the system component and/or the system.
Caution: data loss!
The loading of software via firmware update must not be interrupted at any time.
The mains plug and the USB stick must not be disconnected during the firmware update. It must be
ensured that power is supplied throughout the entire procedure. Any interruption of the firmware
update can result in an inoperative controller. In some cases, a change of the firmware version can
result in the loss of all the specified setpoints in the system centre. As a precaution, the settings should
therefore be backed up by saving them using the LDSWin PC software before the replacement. After
the firmware update, the saved settings can be reloaded into the system centre from LDSWin.
