Weatherproof the cable connections
Hughes connectors, in conjunction with the dielectric grease on the F-connector
threads, provide weatherproofing for outdoor connections. These connectors
should be used in new installations, upgrades, and any repairs.
Outdoor connectors on radios and ground blocks that are in areas with corrosive
environments (e.g. salt air) may need additional weatherproofing, such as
weatherproofing tape or a weather boot filled with dielectric grease (
).
Note:
If you use any cable ties, they must be resistant to ultraviolet radiation.
These are typically black in color.
