Power head shaft/lower shaft assembly
(HCAA-2401A-LW)
Power head shaft/lower shaft assembly
1.
Set power head/shaft assembly on a level surface.
2.
Pull locator pin out, and turn anticlockwise 1/4 turn to lockout
position.
3.
Remove vinyl cap from attachment drive shaft.
4.
Carefully fit attachment drive shaft assembly into coupler to
decal assembly line, making sure that the inner lower drive
shaft engages into the square upper drive shaft socket.
5.
Select desired blade position by aligning one of the holes in
lower shaft with locator pin position.
6.
Rotate locator pin 1/4 turn clockwise to engage lower shaft
hole. Insure locator pin is fully engaged by twisting lower
drive shaft. Locator pin should snap flush in coupler. Full en-
gagement will prevent further shaft rotation.
7.
Secure lower shaft assembly to coupler by tightening clamp-
ing knob.
Installing the cutter and gearcase assembly
(HCAA-2403A-LW)
Removing the gearcase
1.
Place the Grass Trimmers/Brushcutters on a clean, flat sur-
face in an upright position.
2.
Loosen, but do not remove the gearcase clamp screw.
3.
Loosen the gearcase index screw until it is almost free.
4.
Pull and rotate the shield, gearcase, until it slides off the out-
er tube.
Install the hand guard
1.
Measure 616 mm from the bottom end of the outer tube and
make a mark on the tube.
2.
Slide the hand guard up the outer tube, making sure its pro-
truding collar faces toward the end of the tube and its clamp
slot faces down.
3.
Position the hand guard so the front of the protruding collar
aligns with the mark on the outer tube.
4.
Tighten the clamp screw a few turns. Do not completely
tighten until the hedge trimmer cutter assembly has been in-
stalled and the optimum hand guard position has been de-
termined. When positioned properly, the end of the cutter bar
will fit into the notch on the guard.
5.
When the proper location is set, tighten the clamp screw.
