Remove spark arrestor cover (A), gaskets (B) and (C) and spark
arrestor screen (D) from muffler. Replace screen if plugged with
carbon deposits.
NOTE
When cleaning carbon deposit, be careful not to damage the
catalytic body.
4.
Install spark arrestor screen, gaskets, and cover.
5.
Loosely reassemble engine cover then recoil starter and side
handle.
6.
Tighten all screws securely.
Cylinder Exhaust Port
Level 3.
IMPORTANT
The cylinder exhaust port must be inspected and cleaned of excess
carbon every 3 months or 90 hours of operation in order to maintain
this engine within the emissions durability period. ECHO strongly
recommends that you return your unit to your ECHO dealer for this
important maintenance service.

Never remove vacuum tube or open fan guard when SHRED 'N'
VAC
®
is running or serious personal injury may result.
1.
With engine stopped, remove spark plug wire, loosen clamp and
pull vacuum tube from unit.
2.
Remove accumulated debris from blade and inspect for damage.
IMPORTANT
Do not operate SHRED 'N' VAC
®
if shredder blade is damaged or
broken. Keep retaining nut on blade securely tightened.
3.
Refer to "Installing Vacuum Tube" (page 12) in assembly section
for correct assembly procedures.
