Demand response programs offered by utility companies provide an opportunity to reduce financial burden by
shifting electricity usage during peak periods and limiting peak demand charges. The xStorage 400 can
discharge the Lithium Ion batteries as needed to decrease the load seen by the utility at a specific time. The
Eaton xStorage 400 EnergyAware Controller can be configured to provide demand response and peak shaving
functionality. Key parameters for the xStorage 400 demand response energy service are described below.

Highest operational state-of-charge that the system will utilize for the ancillary service and shall set an upper
boundary for ancillary services. The Maximum Active SOC must be set lower than the manufacturer Maximum
SOC and higher than the Target SOC with 1% or greater separation. The EAC will alarm when these conditions
are violated while a service is enabled. The participation in the Demand Response service will be halted while
the alarm is annunciated.

Nominal operational state-of-charge to which the battery is returned for the specific ancillary service. The
xStorage 400 charges and discharges the battery as required to obtain the Target SOC.

The lowest operational state-of-charge that the xStorage 400 system will utilize for the ancillary service.
Minimum Active SOC shall set a lower boundary for ancillary services. The Minimum Active SOC must be set
higher than the Minimum SOC and Critical Reserve SOC but lower than the Target SOC with 1% separation or
greater. The participation in the Demand Response service will be halted while the alarm is annunciated.
