Conduit sizes were chosen from NEC Table 4, Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT). See Table 3-14 for conduit
requirements.
Per NEC article 300, 3(B)(1), all three-phase conductors must be run in the same conduit. The absence or
presence of neutral in the source and load wiring depends on whether the installation is a 4 wire or 3 wire type.
When the neutral is present, it must be run in the same conduit as the ground conductor and the phase
conductors.
Conduit is sized to accommodate one neutral conductor the same size as the phase conductor and one ground
conductor sized in accordance with NEC Table 250.122. For 3 wire configurations when neutral is not required,
the conduit sizes suggested below may be oversized.
Conduit sizes listed are for copper wiring only.
