4.2 Ethernet
4.2 Ethernet
Every easy-RTD features an Ethernet port. This Ethernet port is a Cat 5e/6 port. Make
sure to use compatible standard RJ45 Ethernet cables only. The Ethernet port on the
easy-RTD serves as a communication interface to the easyE4 control relay. The Eth-
ernet controllers support transfer rates of 10 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s. The default IP set-
ting is: Auto IP
When the green LED lights up, this means that an active network has been detected
and a link to it has been established. When the yellow LED flashes, this means that
data is being transferred.
CAUTION
If the Ethernet connection is routed out of the building at one point, a
network isolator (switch, for example) must be used without fail.

For the network, use shielded twisted-pair (STP) cables only.
For connecting the easy-RTD to a easyE4 control relay (directory) or
easy-RTD to a switch:

Use a patch cable (1:1).
Maximum cable length: 100 m without switch
CAUTION
FORCES ON THE ETHERNET INTERFACE
Communications may be affected, and the connection's mechanical
components may be damaged, if the Ethernet interface is subjected
to strong vibrations or the RJ45 plug-in connection is subjected to
pulling.

Protect the RJ45 plug-in connection from strong vibrations.
l
Protect the RJ45 plug-in connection from tensile forces at the
socket.
Eaton recommends implementing measures for protecting against cyberattacks.
