6.1 WIRING DATA
Terminal Block Capacity:
#22 AWG to #12 AWG stranded copper conductors rated
not less than 75
o
C. Tighten terminals to 4 to 6 lb.-in.
Check each wire to ensure that it is fastened securely.
Terminals 8 and 9 are the INCOM communications
connections. Use a twisted pair wire (Belden 9463 or
equivalent) to connect terminals 8 and 9 of the Address-
able Relay II to the INCOM network, daisy-chain style (see
Figure 3). The polarity of the twisted pair is not impor-
tant.
6.2 SIMPLIFIED WIRING RULES
The following simplified rules apply given a system
consisting of a single daisy chained main cable link
between master and slave devices. For more complex
considerations including star configurations please refer to
the IMPACC Wiring Specification (TD17513).
•
The maximum RJ-11 cable length is 50 feet.
•
The maximum system capacity is 10,000 feet of
communications cable and 1000 slave devices.
•
Main cable link must be terminated at each end by a 1/4
watt, 100 V, carbon resistor. When the CONI-III is at an
end of the line, place the switch on the end plate in the
ON position to terminate the line.
•
Non terminated taps, up to 200 feet in length, off the
main link are permitted, but add to the total cable length.
•
Make sure that there is a twisted wire pair present that
is intended for PowerNet network use. Use shielded
twisted pair wire (IMPCABLE or Belden 9463 family) to
connect each slave device to the PowerNet network,
daisy-chain style. The polarity of the twisted pair is not
important.
7.0 OPERATION CHECK
After the PowerNet system has been installed, check the
operation of each Addressable Relay II by applying power
to each unit. The top LED should illuminate green when
power is first applied. Issue a command to turn the relay
ON (energize the relay). The top LED will turn red. This
will confirm that the unit is receiving the PowerNet
command.
Send a request for status command. This will cause the
bottom LED to flash and return a status to the computer.
This response will confirm that the unit is responding
correctly.
8.0 MOUNTING
Use three #8 screws to mount the unit as specified in
Figure 8. If there is a BF relay mounting strip already
installed, use it to mount the unit without any hardware.
The unit should be mounted with the light emitting diode
(LED) in the upper left-hand corner.
