3. Verification of Hardware
Verify that the Breaker Control Buses (BCBs) are properly addressed
and all necessary communication wiring has been terminated. Please
reference the PRC750 Installation Guide (IL01412008E.pdf) for fur-
ther directions on how to address the BCBs and properly connect
them to the PRC750 controller.
4. Discover Breakers
Discover breakers is located in the main menu. The first time the
Pow-R-Command Control Unit is powered up, it automatically
“discovers” the breakers that are connected to it through the Breaker
Control Buses (BCBs). This assumes that the addresses on the BCBs
have been set correctly (please see Step 3 above). Upon startup, a
good practice is to bypass all of the breakers ON and then OFF to
ensure proper communication and discovery. If the breakers have not
been discovered or the BCBs have not been addressed correctly,
then some or none of the intended breakers will operate. These sim-
ple steps can be performed in two ways: manually and through the
LCD display via the
ADVANCED MENU
.
MANUAL
When the LCD face is removed from the PRC control unit, the inner
circuitry and contacts are exposed to plain sight. Referencing the
drawing below shows the location of 5 pushbuttons that, when
depressed and held for 5 seconds each, perform various control
functions.
From left to right, the buttons are
RESET, BYPASS ON, BYPASS
OFF, BYPASS CLEAR
and
FIND LOADS
respectively. Before testing
the breakers and communication, press and hold the
FIND LOADS
(furthermost right) button for 5 seconds. After which, the
BYPASS
ON
and
OFF
buttons can be pressed and held for testing purposes.
Should there be any problems, to check for proper operation of all
breakers, each breaker has a red indicator for ON, check the wiring
and communication cables, as well as the BCB addressing. Upon a
successful test, make sure the
BYPASS CLEAR
button (2nd from
right) is pressed and held for 5 seconds to relinquish the overridden
state to the direction of the control unit once again.
Note:
When any load in the panelboard has been
BYPASSED ON
or
BYPASSED OFF
, a green bypass LED on the front of the controller will
be lit. When loads are bypassed, they will not follow schedule and/or
switch commands.
