Safety precautions

  Read all instructions carefully before using the appliance.

  Never use the appliance without the filter fitted.

  Only use the charger provided.

  For best performance, keep the appliance and the filter clean and

replace the filter if damaged.

  Do not use to vacuum flammable or corrosive liquids.

  Do not use in areas where such liquids or gasses might occur.

  Do not vacuum solvent based products.

Operation

 

To install large powerbrush, simply insert the pipe into the inlet socket at the
bottom of the base unit making sure the button ‘clicks’ into the retaining hole.
To remove, press the lock button and pull off the unit (fig a).

 

The Ewbank 123 is supplied with a crevice tool (fig b) which

      makes cleaning in narrow and hard to reach places more
      convenient. After use this accessory can be stored in a
      separate compartment in the base unit.

 

The small powerbrush may be attached to the nose of the base

       unit (fig c) giving greater cleaning efficiency in the handheld mode.

Getting started

 

Before using the Ewbank 123 for the first time, it will need charging

      for a minimum of 16 hours

 to ensure the battery is fully charged.

 

Ensure the switch is in the ‘off’ position during charging

Upright mode for cleaning floors and carpets

 

The Ewbank 123 features a 3 position switch. The upper
position turns the unit off, the central position vacuums
only hard surfaces and the lowest position activates the
powerbrush heads for carpet cleaning.

 

Remove the charger plug from the vacuum cleaner.

 

To extend the handle twist at the top and pull out to a suitable length, then
turn the handle until it is locked in position.  (fig 1)

Cleaning the filter and the dust compartment

 

Always switch off before opening the dust compartment.

 

Press the release button and detach the dust compartment (fig 2).

 

Remove the filter from the dust compartment and empty

       the contents (figs 3). A damp cloth can be used to clean the inside

 of the dust compartment.

 

Brush away any dirt from the filter. The filter can be washed in warm soapy
water. 

Important: The filter must be dry before

        replacing it into the dust compartment.

 

Ensure the filter is correctly fitted before further use.

 

Maximum dust collection will only be obtained with a clean

      filter and empty dust compartment.

Cleaning the brush and belt

 

Always switch off before cleaning the rotating brush.

 

Regularly inspect and remove hair and fibres from the brush.

To clean the brush and belt more thoroughly, follow the steps below:-

The large powerbrush

 

Detach the large powerbrush from the base unit, slide

         back the side catches, and lift off the brush cover (fig 4).

 

Remove the brush from the belt.

 

After cleaning, reverse these steps to reassemble.

The small powerbrush

 

Detach the small powerbrush from the hand held unit.

 

Remove the four screws on the bottom with a Philips
screwdriver (fig 5) and remove the base.

 

Lift out the brush together with the bearings.

 

After cleaning, reverse these steps to reassemble.

 

The motor is not fixed with a screw and must be
replaced in the correct position during reassembly.
