BATTERY CHARGING AND MAINTENANCE QUICK GUIDE
General Battery Maintenance Guidelines:
1) Only allow the battery to discharge to a 30% level. Discharging past 20% will result in battery damage. The eTT/
MTT will go into a “limp home” mode when the battery gets to a 30% charge. The battery should be charged
prior to the tug reaching “limp home” mode to keep from causing damage to the battery.
2) Battery electrolyte temperature should always be between 50°F and 115°F.
3) Periodically use a neutralizing solution (baking soda and water may be used) on the battery to clean up any no-
ticeable acid on the battery surface. Lightly wash with clean water after using the solution.
Estimated Charge Times:
These charge times apply to charging the eTT-12 or MTT 625 Ahr battery using the Posicharge SVS-100 charger.
Times are approximate and may change based on temperature and battery condition.
20% charge to 80% charge – 3 hours 45 min
40% charge to 80% charge - 2 hours 30 min
60% charge to 80% charge - 1 hour 15 min
80% charge to 100% charge - 45 minutes
100% to completion of equalization – 3 to 4 hours
Battery Lifting:
Batteries should be installed into and removed from the truck using the proper lifting equipment. A wooden beam
lift intended for use with traction batteries provides the proper lifting geometry by acting as a spreader bar as well
as insulating the battery hooks to prevent any short circuits. Batteries can weigh in excess of two tons and overhead
hoists should be rated to handle the appropriate load. Lifting with improper equipment can not only result in dam-
age to the battery or equipment, but also to extreme danger for the equipment operators. For further details, refer to

Battery as Ballast:
Your Eagle tractor has been designed as a complete system including the battery. When considering replacement of
the battery in the future, care must be taken to match the weight and size of the OEM installed battery. Failure to
replace with the same specification battery can result in reduced performance and vehicle instability. Please consult
Eagle tugs for assistance when considering any battery replacements.
