magneto in order to prevent an ignition spark
that could ignite the fuel/vapor. Never permit
smoking or an open flame in an area that con-
tains fuel/vapor. Clean up all fuel spills immedi-
ately.
The fuel filter, tank, hoses and cap should be checked
frequently for leaks, or signs that the cap vent or filter
have become clogged. The filter should be replaced as
required. See ‘Periodic Service Schedule’ in Section ‘A’.
The filter is marked with a flow direction arrow. Be sure
that the arrow points towards the fuel pump
.
To prevent possibility of injury from explosion
or fire, never attempt to repair a damaged or
leaking fuel tank. It must be replaced.

While wearing eye shield, disconnect the negative bat-
tery wire with a wrapped wrench. Disconnect the fuel
line at the fuel pickup. Watch for gasoline leakage from
the fuel line, always use a drip pan and dispose of spent
fuel safely. Unsnap the fuel pump from the molded cra-
dle.
Using a ratchet, 12" extension and a T45 torx bit,
remove the forward torx head bolt. Remove the rear bolt
with a 15mm wrench.
Remove the tank from the engine compartment
Installation is in reverse order.
