RAID Mode Operation
The Dyconn Quartz 2 RAID enclosure not only supports read and write of two hard
drives at the same time, but also supports multiple RAID functions, including NORMAL,
RAID 0, RAID 1 and BIG (LARGE). NORMAL (normal mode) enables two HDDs to work
independently. RAID 0 employs striping that increases HDD performance. RAID 1 uses
mirroring which securely enhances data security and HDD stability. BIG (LARGE) combines
storage space of two HDDs for great capacity and disk utilization.
RAID Mode Setup
To access the multiple RAID modes, utilize the RAID switch located on the rear of the
enclosure.
Important Note:
Any changes to any other RAID mode must be first set back to Normal mode. After this
step is completed, you can proceed to set the Dyconn Quartz 2 to any other RAID mode. If
the aforementioned step is not completed, any subsequently selected RAID mode will not
be accessed.
Use hardware switch to build array mode:
NORMAL:
Normal mode is the designated default RAID mode when the Dyconn Quartz 2 is turned
on. When you switch from any other RAID mode back to NORMAL, please note you will
need to power off the device, move the RAID switch to Normal and press the SET button
for three seconds. You will hear a buzzing sound following by a click. This will indicate that
NORMAL mode has been achieved.
RAID 0:
Firstly, power off the device and change the RAID switch from NORMAL to RAID 0 mode.
Press the SET button for three seconds and turn on the Quartz 2. You will then hear a
buzzing tick sound that indicates that RAID 0 mode is established.
