Section 2: Dealer preparation
STEP 1.
Begin assembly with machine on firm, level ground.
All assembly and adjustments must be done with a drawbar height of 16 inches (plus or minus 1 inch) from ground
level to top of drawbar. Hook machine to tractor towbar. Remove Windrower and Windrower carrier arm from
shipping brackets, and discard brackets. Remove wheel assemblies and parts container from inside of rockbox. Place
the rockwheel frame transport pins in in the storage position.
STEP 2.
Attach hoses to the proper hydraulic outlets on tractor (
illustrations 3.1 and 3.2 on pages 21 and 22).
Cycle hydraulic
cylinders to charge hoses. Remove shipping brackets from between mainframe and rock wheel frame, and discard.
Raise the mainframe, and bolt the 11Lx16 wheel assembly in place using (4) 5/8x2” bolts, lock washer, and nuts. For
easy assembly of the Windrower, raise rock box to full height, and place safety blocks (provided with the machine) on
the rock box cylinders.
Machines are shipped with the Windrower assembly removed. Main frame and rock wheel frame are secured by bolts
and clamps. Two transport pins have been provided in upright rock wheel frame guides. Lock pins may be used to keep
wheel in raised position for extended periods of time, or in case of hydraulic failure when transporting long distances.
Be sure to remove any pins from transport position to prevent damage to machine while testing hydraulic controls.
2.1 ASSEMBLY
Assemble Windrower, bearing, cotter pin, etc. as shown in
illustration 1
. Slide end of Windrower with bearing
attached under machine, and towards the rock wheel. Disconnect hose (
A
) as shown in
illustration 1
, at zerk fitting.
Tighten elbows (
B
), as shown in
illustration 2
. Connect hose to elbow, slide Windrower and bearing assembly into
carrier bracket (
D
). Mount to bracket by using (2) 1/2x2” bolts, flat washer, and lock nuts. Reconnect hose (
A
) to zerk
fitting. Bolt bearing shield (
E
) in place using 3/8x1” bolt, flat washer, and lock nut.
ADJUSTMENTS
- Linkage (
H
) adjusts the working height at the inner end of the Windrower. This machine was not
designed to dig rocks; in most cases Windrower should be allowed to skim approximately 1” of loose topsoil. To adjust
the clearance between rock wheel and carrier bracket plate (
G
), turn nuts (
F
) in or out as necessary - the rock wheel
must turn without contacting plate.
