Always clean your pump after every pumping session.

Warning:

Pumping should not cause pain or discomfort. If you experience discomfort dur-

ing pumping, contact a Lactation Consultant or your healthcare provider.

STORING&HANDLINGBREASTMILK

After expressing your breastmilk, it is important to store and handle it properly.

ž

Make sure your hands and storage containers are clean to avoid
contamination of your expressed breastmilk.

ž

Use Breastmilk Collection Bottles or Breastmilk Storage Bags to store your
breastmilk. These can be used in the refrigerator or freezer.

ž

Be sure your storage bottle or bag is sealed tightly to ensure freshness of the
breastmilk.

ž

Date code your bottles or bags if you do not intend to use your breastmilk
immediately.

ž

For extended storage, freeze your breastmilk.

ž

When freezing breastmilk in Dr. Brown’s® bottles, remove internal vent
system, then seal with storage caps.

Warning:

Do not add fresh breastmilk to already frozen breastmilk in a storage container. Do not save

breastmilk from a used bottle for another feeding.

THAWING&PREPARINGBREASTMILK

After storing your breastmilk, follow these steps to prepare it for baby:

ž

To thaw breastmilk, place the sealed Collection Bottle or Storage Bag in
refrigerator or run under cool tap water.

ž

To warm breastmilk, place the sealed Collection Bottle or Storage Bag in
warm tap water.

ž

Always check breastmilk temperature before feeding baby.

ž

Use thawed breastmilk immediately or refrigerate up to 24 hours.
