Chapter 4 Operating Mode
4.1
Normal Operating State
The PowerGate™ modem is powered by Domosys U-510 series ICs. It allows this modem to
monitor and configure other PowerBus™ devices as described in the PowerBus™ U-510 / U-520
series IC datasheet.
By turning ON the power switch located on the rear panel, the modem will automatically start in
normal operating mode where it is ready to accept commands from its host application (system
idle).
4.2
Uploading a New Firmware
All PowerBus™ devices can be upgraded remotely (via the power input) or locally (via the RS-232
connection) at any time by uploading new firmware into the modem FLASH memory. This is made
possible by PowerBus™ Firmware Upgrade Service.
To upload a new firmware, first place the PowerGate™ modem in BootROM mode as described
in section 2.2.4, then use a software application such as PowerBus™ Development tool and/or
PowerBus™ Installation tool.
