5 .2 Preparing the Cabinet
For proper microwave operation, the cabinet must be:
• Properly constructed and framed
– The cabinet floor must be made from plywood
with a minimum thickness of 3/4 in. (19 mm).
– The cabinet front reinforcements must be cut from
structural lumber.
– The cabinet front must be made from 5-ply
plywood with a minimum thickness of 1/2 in.
(13 mm).
• Sturdy enough to support the weight of the
microwave plus the maximum weight of the
cookware and food
• Level from side-to-side and front-to-rear

1. Construct the cabinet enclosure.
2. If the power outlet is located outside the cabinet, cut
an access hole to run the power cord to the outlet.

3. Carefully mark the cutout in the cabinet front. The
bottom of the cutout should be flush with the bottom
