HEAD. Compare the picture of the new head to this worn head, the flutes should be sharp,
not rounded.
The edges of the flutes should have a square corner. When they become rounded the head
should be rebuilt. Bore flute wear can be measured with our head guage.
The wear limit depends on your application. For fine hole plates the head should be rebuilt
when the clearance over the guage is 1/16" With large hole plates, 1/8" is the limit. Product
definition suffers, and there is a loss of production when the wear is more than these amounts.
Note the machined in plate lug, all flutes are machined from virgin carbon steel or stainless steel.
