Instructions for applied use
You can use the smartphone display operation to zoom in and
further increase the size of the image. Capture either a still
image or video with the smartphone. For further details,
please refer to the user manual for your smartphone.

Capture the image with the smartphone
The specimen-lens distance for best focus is about 15 mm from
the lens when using lens plate A (image 1), about 8 mm using
lens plate B (image 2), and about 2 mm using lens plate C
(image 3). When using lens plate A, detach the light box from
the main unit. Also detach the light box when examining large
specimens that are otherwise too close to the lens for proper
focus.

The specimen-lens distance that provides
the best focus differs depending on the lens
At purchase, the medium-magnification lens plate B is
already installed in the main unit. You can enjoy a wider range
of magnifications by changing
the lens plate. Image quality at the
periphery of the image decreases and
peripheral distortion increases at higher
magnifications.
Depending on the smartphone used, peripheral areas may
appear dark and difficult to see. This phenomenon arises due
to the wide-angle camera lens used on the smartphone. The
images show table salt captured at approximately 10 x,
20 x, and 80 x magnification.

The light box is hooked onto the main unit. Detach the light
box from the main unit by turning the focus adjustment
thumbwheel to separate the light box from the main unit
then sliding the light box up.

Examining large specimens
When examining an opaque specimen, detach the light box
to use it to illuminate the specimen from the side. Alter the
position and angle of the illumination, vertical or
horizontal, left and right,
to best illuminate the
specimen for easy
examination.
