Using OneWaySlide
Alternative grips
The caregiver can either simply grasp the handle, or first
loop it around the wrist. Remember to work with knees
bent, back and arms straight, and shift the weight.
Positioning is easier if the
patient can lean forward.
If the user is unable to lean
forward, one caregiver can
assist from the front while
supporting the patient’s
balance.
If the user can lean forward
and has good balance while
seated, only one caregiver is
required. Grasp the appro-
priate handles and pull the
user back by drawing the
OneWaySlide upward along
the backrest of the wheel-
chair.
If the user is heavy or if the
chair has a high back, two
caregivers can assist, one
working on either side.
Coordinate your efforts.
Raising the user´s feet from the floor will relieve some of the weight of the thighs from the seat,
thereby making repositioning easier.
