9.4 Maintenance
Devices with a minimum of 3kg refrigerant, or hermetically
sealed devices with a minimum of 6 kg refrigerant must be leak-
proof tested yearly by the operator according to ES842/2006.
The leak-proof testing is to be documented and archived for a
minimum of 5 years. The test is to be carried out by certified per-
sonnel only according to (EG) Nr. 1516/2007. The attached table
can be used as a basis for the documentation.
9.5 Water Quality Requirements
Irrespective of any legal regulations, the ground water should not
contain any substances that could form deposits. Iron (< 0.2 mg/
l) and Manganese (< 0.1 mg/l) limit values must be adhered to to
prevent iron ochre sedimentation from forming in the heat source
system.
The use of surface water or water containing salt is not permissi-
ble. Your local water utility can provide you with general informa-
tion regarding the possible use of ground water. Water analyses
are carried out by specially-equipped laboratories.
As a rule, your heat pump system should be equipped with an in-
termediate circuit. Irrespective of any legal regulations, a water
analysis must be carried out if a system is to be operated without
an intermediate circuit to establish conclusively whether the
ground water is compatible for the evaporator of a heat pump
(compare table). If one characteristic is negative “-” or two char-
acteristics are “0”, the water quality is not sufficient for the heat
pump.
