Troubleshooting
WARNING:
There are no user serviceable parts inside the heater. Any servicing other than cleaning of
the heater should be performed by an authorized service representative.
Troubleshooting prior to calling a service technician:

Unit does not turn on.
Check electrical plug connection at wall outlet.
Ensure the unit is installed correctly.
Ensure the unit is installed on a vertical wall.
Ensure the unit power switch is in the on (

) position.
Replace batteries in remote control.
Check circuit breaker.
Associated circuit breaker trips.
The circuit is loaded beyond its capacity. Do not load beyond
80% capacity. Connect the heater to a dedicated 15 Amp circuit.
Heater smells when first used.
This is caused by oil or dust left over from the manufacturing
process and will stop after a short time.
Faint smell for short periods after turning on
the heater.
This is normal and should stop after a short time.
Heater smells when turned on after periods of
non-use.
This is the result of build-up debris and dust on the heater. Switch
the heater off and allow it to cool down, and clean external
surfaces before operating.
Clinking noises when heater is turned on and
after being turned off.
This is expansion and contraction noises of the heater's metal
components and is a normal function of the heater.
Poor heating performance.
Exposure to extreme ambient conditions such as high winds
and excessively cold temperatures can reduce the heating
performance of an outdoor installation.
Unit is not installed in correct position, possibly too high or heater
is too small for area.
Follow maintenance instructions for cleaning the glass.
Display flashes error code "E3".
Excessive temperature accumulation on PCB. Ensure heater is
installed with the clearances specified in this manual; relocate
the heater if necessary. If issue is not resolved, contact technical
support.

There is a burning smell and or unusual
sounds, such as buzzing, coming from
the unit.
Unplug the heater and contact technical support.
Smoke appears from the heater.
Unplug the heater IMMEDIATELY and contact technical support.
Associated circuit breaker trips after trying
procedures above.
Unplug the heater and contact technical support.
Poor heating performance after trying
procedures above.
Defective IR heating element. Unplug the heater and contact
technical support.
Display flashes error code "E0", "E1", or
"E2".
An error has occurred in the PCB. Unplug the heater and contact
technical support.
