Electrical connection.
WARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.

This fi replace must be used on an AC ~ supply only and the voltage 
marked on the fi replace must correspond to the supply voltage.
Before switching on, please read the safety warnings and operating 
instructions.

PLEASE RETAIN THIS USER’S GUIDE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

Do not put plastic components into a dishwasher.
Only slide out the drawer when the water tank needs to be fi lled or a 
lamp needs to be changed otherwise you will inadvertently alter the 
water level and the fl ame eff ect operation.
Only use tap water in this appliance with a maximum hardness of 10 dH 
.
Always ensure that the fi replace is sitting on a level fl oor.
If you intend not using the appliance for longer than 2 weeks, drain the 
water from sump and water tank and dry the sump.
Once installed, never move this fi replace or lay on its back, without 
draining the water from sump and water tank.
The water tank, sump, sump lid, tank cap and air fi lters must be cleaned 
once every two weeks, particularly in hard water areas.
The fi replace appliance should never be operated if the lamps are not 
working. 
The lamps should be regularly inspected as described under ‘Maintenance’ 
and ‘Changing lamps’. 

Installation Instructions

 

Ensure that all packing items are removed (read any warning labels 
carefully).
Retain all packing for possible future use, in the event of moving or 
returning the appliance to your supplier.
To reduce heat losses and to prevent any chimney updraught aff ecting 
the operation of your fi replace we recommend that the chimney fl ue 
is blocked off , ensure that there is a slight  gap for ventilation. 

To install the appliance;

Hold the fi replace by the sides of surround and gently manoeuvre into 
position. Plug the fi replace into a 15amp/120 volt outlet. Ensure that the 
supply cable exits at the front of the fi replace, at the right or left hand 
corner to suit your supply socket location and is not trapped under the 
fi replace such that it might cause it to be damaged.
Before switching on the appliance, please read the following 
instructions.

Before using the manual controls fi rstly  fi ll the water tank (See 
‘Maintenance’, ‘Filling the water tank’).

The manual controls are located behind the drawer.
(See Fig.2 for Manual Control lay out)
Switch ‘A’:- Controls the electricity supply to the fi replace.
Note: This switch must be in the ‘ON’ ( 

) position for the fi replace  to 

operate with or without heat.

Switch ‘B’:- Controls the function of the fi replace. 

Press   once to turn on fl ame eff ect

. This will be  indicated by 

one beep.
Although the main lights operate immediately it will take a further 
30 seconds before the fl ame eff ect starts.

Press   again to give fl ame eff ect and half heat.

 This will be 

indicated by two beeps.

Press   again to give fl ame eff ect and full heat

. This will be 

indicated by three beeps.

Press   again to return to fl ame eff ect only

.

This will be indicated by one beep.

Press     to put fi replace in to standby mode. 

This will be indicated by one beep.

Control Knob ‘C’:- Controls the intensity of the fl ame eff ect. 

Turning the control knob clockwise increases the fl ame  eff ect, 
turning the control knob anti-clockwise will decrease the fl ame 
eff ect.

General.

 

Unpack the fi replace carefully and retain the packaging for possible future 
use, in the event of moving or returning the fi replace to your supplier. The  
Remote Control and batteries are packed separately in the carton.
The fi replace incorporates a fl ame  eff ect, which can be used with or 
without heating, so that the comforting eff ect may be enjoyed at any 
time of the year. Using the fl ame  eff ect on its own only requires little 
electricity.
This model is designed to be installed in a surround or into a wall recess.
Before connecting the fi replace check that the supply voltage is the same 
as that stated on the fi replace. 
Please note: Used in an environment where background noise is very low, 
it may be possible to hear a sound which is related to the operation of the 
fl ame eff ect. This is normal and should not be a cause for concern.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

Please Retain This User’s Guide For Future Reference
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be 
followed to reduce the risk of fi re, electric shock, and injury to persons 
including the following:
1. Read all instructions before using this fi replace.
2. The heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin 
touch hot surfaces. The trim around the heater outlet becomes hot 
during heater operation. High temperatures may be generated under 
certain abnormal conditions. Do not partially of fully cover the front of 
this heater
3. Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near 
children or invalids and whenever the unit is left operating and 
unattended.
4. Always unplug the fi replace when not in use.
5. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug, or if the heater has 
malfunctioned, or has been dropped or damaged  in any manner. 
Return heater to authorized service facility for examination, electrical 
or mechanical adjustment, or repair.

6. Do not use outdoors.
7. This fi replace is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and 
similar indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into a 
bathtub or other water container.
8. Do not run the cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw 
rugs, runners, or the like. Arrange cord away from traffi

    c area and where 

it will not be tripped over.
9. To disconnect the unit, turn the controls off , then remove the plug 
from the outlet.
10. Always use properly grounded, fused and polarized outlets.
11. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or 
exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fi re, or damage 
to the heater.
12. To prevent a possible fi re, do not block air intake or exhaust in any 
manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may 
become blocked.
13. All electrical heaters have hot and arching or sparking parts inside. 
Do not use in areas where gasoline, paint, or fl ammable liquids are used 
or stored or where the unit will be exposed to fl ammable vapors.
14. Do not modify the fi replace.  Use it only as described in this manual.  
Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fi re, 
electric shock or injury to persons.
15. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance must be grounded. 
Avoid the use of an extension cord. Extension cords may overheat and 
cause a risk of fi re. If you must use an extension cord, the cord must be 
No. 14 AWG minimum size and rated no less than 1875 Watts.
16. Do not burn wood or other materials in the fi replace.
17. Always use a certifi ed electrician should new circuits or outlets be 
required.
18. Disconnect all power before performing any cleaning, or relocation 
of the unit.
19. When transporting or storing the unit and cord, keep in a dry place, 
free from excessive vibration and store so as to avoid damage.
20 If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the 
manufacturer,  its service agent or similarly qualifi ed persons in order 
to avoid a hazard.
21 The heater must not be located immediately below a socket-outlet.
22. Do not use this fi replace in series with a thermal control, a program 
controller, a timer or any other device that switches on the heat 
automatically, since a fi re risk  exists when the fi re is accidentally 
covered or displaced.
23. In the event of a fault unplug the fi replace.
24. The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible.
