5.7 Extending the wheelbase
Moving the rear wheels backwards increases
the distance between the wheels and therefo-
re the stability of the wheelchair. Moving the
rear wheels forwards increases the manoeuv-
rability of your wheelchair as there is less pres-
sure on the front wheels.
Completely release the brake cables of the disc
brake on both sides and pull the brake cable
out. Then unscrew the wheel axis screw; now
pull the wheel axis out fully. In the next step,
you can remove the rear wheel. The adapter
including the brake cylinder of the disc brake
must be turned by 180° and, depending on
the conversion, moved 4 cm to the front or to
the back. To assemble it, carry out the steps in
reverse order. Ensure that you tighten the
screws.
CAUTION
Altering the wheelbase means the
brakes will have to be readjusted
(see chapter 5.1).
