The system board is equipped with 4 SATA connectors at loca-
tions J16 (SATA 2), J17 (SATA 1), J18 (RAID SATA 1) and J19
(RAID SATA 2) for connecting serial ATA devices. Connect one
end of the SATA cable to a SATA connector and the other end
to your serial ATA device.
The Intel ICH5 chip controls SATA 1 and SATA 2. Configure
these ports in the Integrated Peripherals submenu (“OnChip IDE
Device” field) of the BIOS. Refer to chapter 3 for more informa-
tion.
The Silicon Image Sil3112A chip controls RAID SATA 1 and
RAID SATA 2. It allows you to configure RAID on these two
ports.
Configuring RAID on SATA Drives Connected to
RAID SATA 1
and RAID SATA 2
The Silicon Image Sil3112A chip supports RAID level 0 and RAID
level 1. The following must be set accordingly.

BIOS Setting
1. Enable the RAID function in the Integrated Peripherals
submenu (“Onboard Device” section) of the Award BIOS.
