These functions are advanced functions which have been preset for optimal
use. Normally, it is not necessary to modify these settings.
Virtual Server
You can use 'Virtual Server' to activate (via IP address) a certain service (spe-
cified by port number) for specific local computers for direct access from the
Internet (e.g. for web, FTP or e-mail servers). If you want to use this option,
dynamic IP address assignment must be disabled on the particular computer,
and a static IP address assigned.
쎲
'Port Start': Enter the WAN port number for the service, e.g. port 25 for e-
mail.
쎲
'Port End': Enter the WAN port number for the service, e.g. port 25 for e-
mail.
쎲
'Private Port Start': Enter the LAN port number for the service.
The port number in the LAN may differ from that in the WAN, i.e. within your
local network, you can assign port numbers that are different to conventional
WAN numbers. In such cases, the router simply diverts the service to the
relevant port.
쎲
'Port Type': This is where you select the appropriate protocol, e.g. 'TCP'.
쎲
'Host IP Address': This is where you enter the IP address of your local
server, e.g. 192.168.0.249.
