20. Infl ammation
Infl ammation is a complex defense
response to various stimuli (mechan-
ical, physical, chemical, biological
etc.). The infl ammatory response is
directed at destroying the agent that
caused the damage and restoring
damaged tissue. Infl ammation is lo-
cal appearance of a reaction of the
whole body, since all processes are carried out by a general
reaction of the body controlled by the nervous and endocrine
mechanisms. The general condition of the body, its resistance,
nutrition and age aff ect the appearance and development of
infl ammatory processes. Along with these products of infl am-
mation in the blood have an impact on the entire body. The
course of the infl ammatory process depends on many fac-
tors, but primarily on the body’s condition of reaction. With
increased reaction, the disease is acute, and in other cases is
sub-acute, protracted or chronic with periods of aggravation
and remission.
The most common cause of infl ammation is infection. The
infection and infl ammatory response is a defense reaction,
where the main goal is to prevent the spread of infection in the
body. Development of the infl ammatory process may be due to
