Chapter 2. Dell S5000 Series Servers Overview

2.1.

Overview

The Dell S5000 Series Servers for SAP HANA are designed to be modular, easy
to maintain and to increase density and maximize memory capacity.

They exploit the Intel

®

 C627 Chipset, Intel

®

 Xeon

®

 Scalable processors and

the UPI Intel protocol.

Each Dell S5000 Series server module is 2U high and includes two sockets that
can support up to twelve memory modules each. It features five PCIe slots
(either five PCIex8 or two PCIex16 plus one PCIex8).

The Dell S5000 Series offers a S5408 glueless multi-module server via an
intermodule connecting box. The S5408 server can be upgraded to the S5416
server using a UBox, that houses the eXternal Node Controller (XNC).
