8.2 Wind load
The wind load or wind power according to Eurocode must be observed when installing/dimensioning
air-termination systems. Therefore, our products are dimensioned for the maximum bending stress and
the relevant tilting moment.
Locational and environmental parameters are decisive when determining wind power. In addition to
the base wind speed and terrain category, the height of the location and object are important for
evaluation. The combination of the different factors leads to the gust wind speed which must be taken
as a basis for dimensioning and installing air-termination systems.
Consequently, the gust wind speed must be determined depending on the relevant object. Information
on this topic can be found in the relevant catalogue.
Note
:
Wind load calculations based on Eurocode differ due to country-specific definitions. Country-specific
differences must be observed.
Therefore, the individual components such as air-termination rod, supporting tube, tripod, etc. must be
chosen for the wind speeds depending on the construction of the building.
If the air-termination tip/air-termination rod is directly attached to the supporting tube,
HVI Conduc-
tors
can withstand different wind speeds. The relevant fixing dimensions of the supporting tube (see
Fig. 23) must be observed and must also be considered for the additional
HVI long Conductors
(up to
4) installed outside the supporting tube.
