Using the Operator Control Panel
Before You Use
the Control
Panel Once the operating system is running, pressing a control panel
button or switch interrupts operation. Before you press a control
panel button or switch, you may need to shut down the system.
You shut down the system by performing the operating system
software shutdown procedure. Refer to your operating system
documentation.
Overview
You can use the switches and buttons on the DEC 4000 AXP
control panel to do the following:
• Invoke console mode from operating system mode
• Reset a hung system
• Power down the system (DC power only)
• Monitor self-test results
