Apply a few drops of oil to the
side of the fi lter as well.

Squeeze the sponge to make
sure that the oil penetrates it
thoroughly.

Dab away any excess oil with a
paper towel.

Insert the sponge into the
filter. There is a lip in the filter
that will hold the element in
place, so make sure that the top
edge of the sponge is tucked
underneath it.

Here’s how the air filter will
look with the sponge in place.
The air filter can now be fitted
to the carburettor.

Later on in the assembly
process, you will fi t the air fi lter
onto the carburettor, as shown.
