Isolating AssuredRemote replication faults
Cabling for replication
AssuredRemote replication is a disaster-recovery feature that performs batch replication of
block-level data from a primary volume in one EF3015 controller enclosure to a secondary
volume on the same system, or on a second, independent EF3015 controller enclosure. The
second system can be located at the same site as the first system, or at a different site. See
3.7 "Connecting Two Storage Systems to Replicate Volumes"
for host connection
information concerning AssuredRemote.
NOTE :
See the AssuredRemote topic within the RAIDar guide or online help for
additional information.
C
AUTION
:
When replacing a EF3015 controller set supporting AssuredRemote
with a EF3015 controller set that does not support this licensed feature, you must first
delete all replication sets before swapping the controller modules. Not doing so will
lead to unexpected results, and there is no way to delete replication sets after the
installation. See the upgrade document supporting your product for additional
information.
Replication setup and verification
After storage systems and hosts are cabled for replication, you can prepare to replicate a
volume or snapshot. Optionally, you can telnet to access the IP address of the controller
module and access the AssuredRemote feature using the CLI.
NOTE :
Refer to the following manuals for more information on replication setup:
- See EF3015 RAIDar User Guide for procedures to setup and manage replications.
- See EF3015 CLI Reference Guide for replication commands and syntax.
Basic information for enabling the EF3015 controller enclosures for replication supplements
the troubleshooting procedures that follow.
1.
Familiarize yourself with AssuredRemote by reviewing the Getting started and Using
AssuredRemote to replicate volumes chapters in the RAIDar User Guide.
2.
See descriptions and recommendations for replication-related events in the Event
Descriptions Reference Guide.
3.
Within the RAIDar User Guide’s Using AssuredRemote to replicate volumes chapter,
follow the procedure entitled Setting up Replication.
This procedure will help you to prepare to replicate an existing volume to another
vdisk in the local system or to a remote system. Once setup is successfully completed,
you can initiate replication from RAIDar‘s Configuration View panel. Alternatively, you
can use CLI commands.
