Furthermore, connecting the second AC input power socket to a different external power source
circuit than the first AC input power source eliminates power as a single point of failure.
The AC power switch is a rocker style switch. The circle icon

Rear — Management Module
The
SERIAL 1
connector port is a shielded DB9 Female and is
cabled to the
COM
port of any compatible network tool or PC
with any terminal emulation application resides using the
Datacom Systems Command Line Interface (CLI) Software.
The
SERIAL 2
connector port is reserved for future use
The
MANAGEMENT
connector port is a shielded RJ45 and is cabled to the network.
Media Access Control (MAC) address identifier and certification compliance identifiers are
provided on this rear label.

Network IP Address Configuration
All VS-1212-F and VS-1224-F series units are shipped with a
factory default
configuration as
follows:
IP Address:192.168.1.1; Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0; Gateway: 192.168.1.0
User name:
Administrator
password:
admin
IMPORTANT:
If you expect to remotely connect to the VS-1212-F and VS-1224-F series, you
must change the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway to match your Local Area Network.
Note:
If your VS-1212-F and VS-1224-F already has the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway
set for your network, you may proceed to the '
Stand-Alone Installation
' section.
This simplified sample initial configuration uses the
SERIAL1
DB9 Female port.with the shipped
DRL512-2M-R DB9 M/F straight thru cable. Any freely available terminal emulator (PuTTy or
Tera Term for example) may be used, but please note the following specific terminal settings:
115,200 bits per second; 8 data bits; Parity none; 1 stop bit; Flow control none
Step 1.
Connect your PC and your VS-1212-F or VS-1224-F using the provided Datacom
Systems DRL512-2M-R cable. Connect the DB9 Female pin end to the serial port on your PC and
connect the DB9 Male pin to the
CONTROL
port on your VS-1212-F or VS-1224-F.
