If you are using D.A.S. system processors as part of a system that
uses Energy E-8, E-12 or E-20, do not use the limiters in your
amplifiers. Instead, use the processors’ limiters for each of the
frequency bands. Set the limiters on the processors to the switch
positions indicated below for amplifiers E-8, E-12 and E-20. Models
E-2 and E-4 are not listed as they should not be used with the
systems that go with those processors.
IMPEDANCE
Total impedance for a group of amplifiers connected (in parallel) to
a single channel is the impedance of one of the speakers divided by
how many we have. For example, two pieces of 8 ohm boxes give
a 4 ohm impedance.
You are discouraged
to use impedance
loads lower than 4
ohms.
OVERHEATING
If one of the ampli-
fier's channels shuts
the music off and the
red
CLIP
LED is not
on, the amplifier's
overheating protec-
tions may have been
activated to protect
the components from
thermal damage. On
models E-8, E-12 and
E-20 the orange
SAFEGUARD
LED will
be lit, but models E-2
and E-4 will display no indication of over-heating protection.
Overheating may be due to insufficient cooling, or you may be using
too low a load (say 2 ohms, typically caused by plugging too many
boxes to one channel).
Once the amplifier cools down, the amplifier switches back on, but
unless you correct the problem that made the amplifier shut down
in the first place, chances are the overheating protection will
activate again in a few minutes. Read 3.2 to ensure you have
appropriate cooling. If you are using too many speakers at the same
channel and need to go on with the show, try lowering the volume
just a notch (5 dB less maybe all you need to finish the show and
go home dry), and consider purchasing an additional amplifier.
