The figures below show the operat-
ing envelopes for SM / SY compres-
sors with refrigerant R-22 and for SZ
compressors with refrigerants R-407C,
R-134a, R-404A and R-507A. Operat-
ing limits define the envelope within
which reliable compressor operation
is guaranteed.
Because discharge temperature de-
pends on the combination of evapo-
rating temperature, condensing tem-
perature and suction gas superheat,
discharge temperature limits are
indicated by a double line. The solid
line represents the limit when the su-
perheat is 20
o
F or less. The dotted line
shows the limit when the superheat is
54
o
F. Interpolate for superheat values
between 20
o
F and 54
o
F.
• Maximum discharge gas tem-
perature: +275
o
F
• Maximum ambient temperature:
+145
o
F (for SM / SZ 084 to 185),
+125
o
F (for SY / SZ 240 to 380)
• A suction superheat below 10
o
F is not
recommended due to risk of liquid
floodback
• Maximum superheat: 54
o
F
• Minimum and maximum evapo-
rating and condensing temperatures
as per the operating envelopes.
