W inding resistance is the resistance between
phases at 25° C ( resistance v a lu e +/- 7 % ).
W inding resistance is genera lly l ow and it
req u ires adapted too l s f or precise meas u rement.
U se a digita l ohm - meter , a "4 wires " method and
meas u re u nder stabi l ised ambient temperat u re.
W inding resistance v aries strong ly with winding
temperat u re ; i f the compressor is stabi l ised
at a di ff erent v a lu e than 25° C, the meas u red
resistance m u st be corrected with f o ll owing

T he max. operating c u rrent is the c u rrent when
the compressor operates at maxim u m l oad
conditions and 1 0 % be l ow nomina l v o l tage
(+1 5° C e v aporating temperat u re and +6 8° C
condensing temperat u re).

compressors with motor code 4 (4 00 V / 3ph /
50 Hz or 46 0 V / 3ph / 6 0 Hz ) can be red u ced u sing
the D an f oss digita lly- contro ll ed M CI compressor
so f t starter. M CI so f t starters are designed
to red u ce the starting c u rrent o f 3 - phase A C
motors ; the y can red u ce the inr u sh c u rrent b y
u p to 4 0 %, thereb y e l iminating the detrimenta l
e ff ects o f high starting torq u e s u rges and cost ly
demand charges f rom the res ul tant c u rrent
spike. U pon starting , the contro ll er grad u a lly
increases the v o l tage s u pp l ied to the motor u nti l
full-l ine v o l tage has been reached. A ll settings ,
s u ch as ramp -u p time (l ess than 0.5 sec) and
initia l torq u e , are preset and do not req u ire
modi fi cation.

soft-start controller
W hen the contro l v o l tage is app l ied to A 1 - A2 ,
the M CI so f t starter wi ll start the motor , according
to the settings o f the ramp -u p time and initia l
torq u e ad ju stments. W hen the contro l v o l tage
is switched O FF, the motor wi ll switch o ff
instantaneo u s ly .
